MUSIC PERFORMANCE
The College of Creative Arts & Technology Music Performance program provides students with the skills and knowledge required to enter the music industry as composers, live performers, session musicians and music producers. The music industry is an extremely competitive industry and anyone looking to enter into any area of this industry needs a solid understanding of not just performing, but business skills, technology and recording skills, communication skills, networking skills, marketing, promotional skills and presentation skills.
CCAT is one of the few institutions that brings all areas of the creative arts together into one faculty. It has all the disciplines working together on projects that not only give the students real life industry experience and opportunities to network with students in other areas of study in the creative arts, but also to equip the students with an extensive portfolio of work to help propel them into the work place.
Students do a combination of theory classes and practical projects with regular performances in front of high profile industry professionals.
All students receive individual instrumental tuition in the instrument of their choice in addition to their theory classes. Study on a secondary instrument can also be arranged.
There are also numerous opportunities to work with students in Audio Engineering, Film and Television Production, Digital Animation and Visual Effects, Dance and Drama on theatrical productions, short films, video clips and animated cartoons.
CCAT is equipped with two full state of the art computer labs with MIDI, hard disk recording and music notation software for students to learn to compose and arrange music using the latest technology. Pathways exist between this course and the other programs offered by CCAT.
This Music Performance course has been designed by professional working musicians and is designed to equip musicians with all the skills they need to survive in this cut-throat industry. |
